Julius Klinger: Posters for a Modern Age at The Wolfsonian – FIU on Miami Beach, was a delightful, well-attended FAN CC event on Friday, October 6.
This exhibition displayed the work of one of the founding figures of modern poster art. Julius Klinger transformed commercial visual culture through his innovative advertising posters, magazine illustrations, ornamental and typographical design and brand development. He recognized the power of posters to sell, inform and persuade and the power of modern trademarks and logos to give identity to companies and products.
His designs – characterized by bold colors, graphic simplicity and directness – incorporated the latest thinking about ways to engage “the man in the street.”
Our tour was particularly special, led by Jeremy Aynsley, curator of the exhibition.
Lunch was at Poseidon Greek Seafood Restaurant, following the event. Hosts were Arlene Zakarin and Naomi Honig.
