This special Marlins Ballpark tour on April 7, 2017, just before baseball season begins, took FAN members places not ordinarily seen by regular “fans,” such as the Miami Marlin’s dugout, locker room, private suites, home plate VIP club, and onto the field.
We also learned about the art in public places both inside and outside the stadium and the color schemes of the stadium, inspired by a Joan Miro piece on view at the main entrance.
Additional art pieces on our FAN tour included works by Red Grooms (whose sculpture in Center Field comes alive after every Marlins home run); Roy Lichtenstein’s “Baseball Manager,” which is placed to overlook the field and line up where our manager stands; Kenny Scharf’s 3-story high “Play Ball”; Larry River’s “The Pitcher” next to Niki de Saint Phalle’s “Baseball”.
Outside the stadium, art pieces included Carlos Cruz-Diez walkway incorporated in the West Plaza’s Home Plate entrance and Daniel Arsham’s illuminated outside columns.
Hosts for this very special event (and all FAN Members-Only events) were Marilyn Berens and Hillary Hoffman.
