FANs Attend New World Symphony Rehearsal For 30th Anniversary Program

The dress rehearsal of the 30th Season opening program of Russian Masterworks featuring piano virtuoso Yuja Wang with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting was on Friday, October 13 from 10:00 AM–12:30PM at the New World Center on Miami Beach.

Wang, Musical America’s 2017 Artist of the Year, performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Fourth Concerto, a worldly kaleidoscope of styles—from New York jazz to Parisian impressionism.

Next, Sergei Prokofiev’s Fifth Concerto was a showstopper. Drama and romance leapt from Prokofiev’s vivid portrayal of Shakespeare’s classic. And Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espanol brought the fiery rhythms of flamenco to the orchestra stage, as a finale.

FANS enjoy the NWS rehearsal

Following the rehearsal FAN attendees joined New World Symphony Fellows for a box lunch in the atrium.

The delightful event was hosted by Deborah Slott and Sydney Carpel,
