The University of Miami Frost School of Music presented pianist Kevin Kenner playing “Chopin Contemplations” on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Maurice Gusman Hall, the University of Miami. The concert was funded by FAN.
The radiant music of Chopin’s late solo piano works shone at a superb recital. Kenner is a major prizewinner at Warsaw’s Chopin International Piano Competition and Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Competition.
South Florida Classical Review stated: “Kenner is a Chopin interpreter of exceptional gifts, and such full blooded, dramatic, technically secure performances are extremely rare.”
The repertoire included Nocturne No. 2 in D-flat major, Op. 27; Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp minor, Op. 39; Barcarolle in F-sharp major, Op. 60; Mazurkas, Op. 56; Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53; Nocturne No. 2 in E major, Op. 62; and Piano Sonata No.3 in B minor, Op. 58.
