FAN Funds Borodin Quartet With Joseph Kalichstein at Friends of Chamber Music Event

Friends of Chamber Music (FOCM) is celebrating its 61st year, presenting some of the world’s greatest instrumentalists. FAN funded a program with the Russia’s famed Borodin Quarter, joined by pianist Joseph Kalichstein on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Coral Gables Congregational Church
in Coral Gables. This Cultural Camaraderie evening was an exciting musical event.

The Borodin Quartet is universally recognized for its genuine interpretation of Russian music. The Quartet’s connection with Shostakovich’s chamber music is intensely personal, since it was stimulated by a close relationship with the composer, who personally supervised its study of each of his quartets.

The Borodin and Kalichstein performed a Dvorak Piano Quintet, plus two Shostakovich String Quartets.

Pianist Joseph Kalichstein is acclaimed for the heartfelt intensity and technical mastery of his playing.
This well-attended FAN event was hosted by Renee Lieberman and Sue Rapperport.
