Cleveland Orchestra Rehearsal at the Arsht

On March 5, FAN members and guests enjoyed an open rehearsal of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony (called the “Tragic”), conducted by the Cleveland Orchestra’s Franz Welser-Most. When Mahler first played this piece on the piano for his wife, Alma, after it was completed in 1904, she said: “Of all of his works this was the most personal … We were both in tears … so deeply did we feel this music and the sinister premonitions it disclosed.”

Dinner followed at the Café at Books & Books in the Arsht Center, after the rehearsal. T
